The discovery for the first time in Basilicata of two plants of Leucocarpa, an ancient almost lost variety of white olive, which is found today only in sporadic crops especially in Calabria- is reported by Agia-Cia in the countryside of Nova Siri (MT) , in the districts Pizzarello and Pietrosa.
Today Agia, together with the two young custodians, intends to start a census of the Leucocarpa plains in Basilicata (the invitation to possible Lucanian owners to report to the CIA branches), to make a morphological comparison of the fruits and leaves found in Basilicata with the Calabrian ones, to report the fruit to SlowFood (sending insertion form inside the Ark of Taste). Symbolically renamed together with the two young producers as “Bianca di Magna Grecia” it can become a symbol of the important Biodiversity heritage of the institution of Magna Grecia Park.
